Day-In-The-Life Films
Fully and Accurately Portray Your Clients Challenges

A Day-In-The-Life film is a video documentary which chronicles the daily challenges of a person who has suffered a severe, life-altering injury.  A Day-In-The-Life documentary is an indispensable vehicle to preserve and demonstrate elements of pain and suffering, mental anguish, future medical needs, loss of wages and loss of society and companionship.  There is simply no better way to depict your client's degradation in quality of life, problems with activities of daily life, need for special care and equipment and family impact.

When you hire Katz Consulting Group for your Day-In-The-Life documentary, you can expect us to fully capture your client's limitations and challenges, and to take the following steps:

  • Assign producer to your project
  • Meet with attorney and litigation team
  • Address HIPAA issues to ensure problem-free filming
  • Establish contact with client to explain the process and arrange filming schedule
  • Identify activities of daily life (ADLs), adaptive equipment, daily routines, caregiver interaction, therapy, administration of medications or treatments and other relevant activities
  • Provide instructions and checklist to attorneys and clients to assist them in gathering relevant photographs, home video, news footage and other items
  • Producer and videographer for full day of filming
  • Captue and edit video footage into a rough-cut for attorney review
  • Produce final video per attorneys' comments
  • Deliver video in format of attorneys' choice: VHS, CD or DVD

A Day-In-The-Life film can be admitted and presented to the jury through any number of witnesses who can establish the foundation for the presentation – namely that it is a fair and accurate representation of the individuals condition at the time that the filming occurred. Frequently, Day-In-The-Life films are introduced through family members, therapists, treating physicians or other caregivers.

Day-In-The-Life footage can also be effectively used during the deposition of treating physicians and therapists using interactive picture-in-picture techniques.  A witness can view the video in realtime and comment upon what he or she sees, with both the witness and film recorded simultaneously.  This is an innovative use of video and technology to create and preserve powerful testimony not only for the courtroom, but for presentation at mediation and for inclusion in video settlement documentaries.
